What is website downtime and why does it matter?
Website downtime is when your website is unavailable or not functioning properly for visitors. Even a few minutes of downtime can result in lost sales, damaged reputation, and frustrated customers. Studies show that 88% of online consumers are less likely to return to a site after a bad experience. Quimonit monitors your site 24/7 so you can address issues before they impact your business.
What is uptime percentage and what is a good uptime?
Uptime percentage measures how often your website is available and functioning. Industry standard is 99.9% uptime (about 8.7 hours of downtime per year). 99.99% uptime (about 53 minutes of downtime per year) is considered excellent. Quimonit tracks your uptime percentage over time so you can see trends and hold your hosting provider accountable.
How does server ping monitoring work?
Server ping monitoring sends regular requests to your website from multiple global locations. If your site doesn't respond within the expected time, Quimonit detects the issue and alerts you immediately. This is the most basic but essential type of monitoring - it tells you if your website is reachable from the internet.
Why should I monitor my DNS records?
DNS (Domain Name System) is what translates your domain name into the IP address where your website lives. If DNS is misconfigured or compromised, visitors can't find your website even if it's running perfectly. DNS monitoring catches issues like failed propagation, hijacking attempts, and expired records before they cause outages.
What is an email blacklist and how does it affect my business?
Email blacklists are databases that flag domains or IP addresses as sources of spam or malicious email. If your domain ends up on a blacklist, your legitimate emails (newsletters, transactional emails, customer communications) may be blocked or sent to spam folders. Blacklist monitoring alerts you so you can take action and protect your email deliverability.
How can I improve my email deliverability?
Good email deliverability starts with a clean domain reputation. Quimonit's blacklist monitoring helps you stay off spam lists. Additionally: use proper SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records; avoid sending spammy content; maintain a clean email list; and respond quickly if you're flagged. Our DNS monitoring also verifies your mail-related DNS records are configured correctly.
Why do I need SSL certificate monitoring?
SSL certificates encrypt data between your website and visitors. When certificates expire, browsers show security warnings that scare away visitors and hurt your search rankings. SSL monitoring tracks expiration dates and validity status, alerting you weeks before expiration so you have time to renew without interruption.
How does malware scanning protect my website?
Malware scanning detects malicious code, viruses, and security vulnerabilities on your website. Compromised sites can spread malware to visitors, get blacklisted by search engines, and damage your reputation. Regular scanning catches threats early, often before you or your visitors notice anything wrong.
What is website performance monitoring?
Performance monitoring tracks how fast your website loads and responds. Slow websites frustrate visitors and hurt SEO rankings. Google considers page speed a ranking factor, and 40% of visitors abandon sites that take more than 3 seconds to load. Quimonit monitors response times so you can identify and fix performance bottlenecks.
What is response time and what is considered good?
Response time is how long it takes for your server to respond to a request. Under 200ms is excellent, 200-500ms is good, 500-1000ms needs improvement, and over 1 second is poor. Fast response times improve user experience and SEO. Quimonit tracks your average response time so you can spot degrading performance.
How does content change detection work?
Content change detection takes snapshots of your web pages and compares them over time. If significant unexpected changes occur (defacement, unauthorized edits, hacking), you're alerted immediately. This is especially important for businesses that don't update their websites frequently, as hacks can go unnoticed for weeks or months.
Can website monitoring help with SEO?
Absolutely. Search engines penalize websites that are frequently down, slow to load, or have security issues. Google's algorithms consider uptime, page speed, and SSL security as ranking factors. By monitoring these elements, Quimonit helps you maintain the healthy website presence that search engines reward with better rankings.
